VOIP Dialing and Connection Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to dial 411, 311 or 911 from my TeleSouth number?

911 Service is currently not supported, but we are diligently working on a solution for that and plan to have a solution in place within the next 30 to 60 days. Make sure and keep a cell phone handy or the numbers of local police, fire, and ambulance on hand until we get this issue resolved. Directory assistance is not available at this time.

If I sign up with TeleSouth, can I continue to use "800" numbers and have them terminate in my TeleSouth number? Do you support 800 numbers?

Yes, you may port an existing 800 number to our service, or have TeleSouth assign you a new toll free number to forward to you primary TeleSouth number. Toll free numbers are $4.99 per month after a $9.99 activation fee. The monthly fee includes 100 incoming minutes. Additional minutes after that are billed at 5 cents per minute.

How do I make local, long distance or international calls?

Dial local calls as you would with any other phone. Dial long distance by dialing the Area Code and then the number. Dialing 1 first is not necessary. To dial International, dial 011+Country Code+Area Code+Phone Number.

Are calls to the US Virgin Island (area code 340) or Puerto Rico (area code 787) included in your unlimited plan?

These areas are considered international calls on the TeleSouth network. Tariffs for rates to these areas can be found on the TeleSouth International Rates section of the website.

Do you offer international calling plans?

TeleSouth offers very competitive international rates on our calling plans. Take a look at the international section on the web.

Can I call a 900 or 1-900 number from my TeleSouth phone?

No, TeleSouth service blocks all calls to 1-900 numbers.

Do I need to use special dialing codes in order to use the TeleSouth phone?

No. Your new service works just like a traditional phone: dial area-code+number for US/Canada, dial country-code+ area-code +number for international calls. There are no special codes required to use the TeleSouth broadband telephone service.

Can I call other numbers in the USA that do not subscribe to TeleSouth, and would these calls be free on your unlimited plan?

On our Unlimited Calling Plans, you can call anyone in the U.S. or Canada with no additional charge. The other person does not have to have our service, though we hope that you will recommend our service to all of your friends and family!

If I call from my TeleSouth phone to another TeleSouth phone number in a very remote area of the globe, do I get this IP call for free?

Yes, under all of our plans, all TeleSouth to TeleSouth calls, anywhere in the world, are free and unlimited, and are included as part of your monthly service fee. There are no additional charges for these calls.

Can someone place a collect call to my TeleSouth phone number?

No, the TeleSouth service will not allow collect calls to connect to your TeleSouth phone number.
